For the first step, I sketched an orb with a Dachshund on the top to tribute the death of my grandma.
For the second step, I grabbed a ball of clay and split it into two equal parts.
For the third step, I made two pinch pots and welded them together with a coil seal. I then smoothed it out and covered all the cracks and holes.
After, I started to form the body of the Dachshund.
I then made hind legs for the Dachshund.
I continued to make two dog bones and a tennis ball that I later connected to the orb.
I connected the Dachshund to the orb along with the dog bones and tennis ball. I let it dry over night so that it would harden a little bit to make it a better texture to carve into.
I carved subtle blades of grass all along the bottom of the orb.
After the orb dried, it was bisque fired.
Then I glazed my orb, and it will be fired in the kiln and pit fired.
The final product is even better than I imagined it to be. I like the way the crackle green glaze made the grass look, and I'm glad that I didn't glaze the whole orb.
