Unread Letter
Dear Jordan,
I’m so proud of you. You have been through so much at such a young age. Your situation is very inspiring to me and many others. Having sickle cell is a struggle on it’s own, and it’s amazing that you have handled it so well. I know it may be scary and you might think it’s unfair, but God wouldn’t have given you this challenge if he thought you couldn't overcome it. You are so strong. Seeing you in the hospital on your eleventh birthday broke my heart. I tried putting myself in your shoes, and I know I wouldn't even come close to being as strong as you. You never fail to have a smile on your face. That makes me so so happy! Your being in the hospital is really hard on your family. I’m sure it’s tough for everyone, but it's clear to me that it's much harder on AJay and your mom. When you got transferred to Charlotte, we were all so sad and worried. It wasn’t the same without you around. We missed you! Even Benson. I’m so glad you’re back. I just wish you could get better and come home permanently. I know you probably miss going to school and learning with your friends. Your teachers seemed to be really nice and thoughtful when they visited on your birthday. You get baptized today. I’m excited for you! I really wish we were closer, but I just want you to know how much I love and care for you. I’d do anything for you and your family. I remember sitting in the driveway with AJay while he cried because he was scared for you. That really opened my eyes to how serious things were getting. He didn't want you to leave him. It’s hard seeing guys cry. That’s when you know they’re hurting, even though AJay's sensitive. You’ve been so blessed with such a beautiful, loving family, I hope you know that. You’re so loved. You’re a gorgeous young woman and I hope you get to grow into something even better. I hope you get to graduate from high school and college, and get married(even though AJay might not like that) and experience everything that you could ever dream of! You deserve it. I love you so much. Keep pushing. You got this. I believe in you.
